The best things in life are nearest:

Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you.

Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.

                       Robert Louis Stevenson

I sometimes wonder to myself  if  I was born in the wrong era?  I have always had a fascination for learning more about simple living and good "old-fashioned" skills that women of days-gone-by used to see the importance of learning and then passing on to the generations who would come after them.

Sadly,  many of these skills  have fallen by the wayside with today's modern and busy lifestyles.

In my mind's eye, an old-fashioned "simple home" was one where women were known for their hard work, honest living, and God honoring devotion to family, church and community!

This web site is dedicated to women everywhere, who like myself, long to turn back the clock and strive to make their own home, a simple home.

In the coming months, I hope to expand this web site to include information on topics such as:

Cottage gardening; home-made health; simple and nutritious meals from scratch; how to stock a healthy pantry; canning and preserving foods; keeping a small herd of livestock; (sheep, goats, chickens, etc.) heirloom seeds and gardening; composting; soap making and other time honored crafts; raising fruit trees; keeping a berry patch; handcrafts such as sewing, crochet, knitting, spinning, weaving, quilting--- and more!

Anything else that brings our life back to a place of simplicity, and promotes a more simple home, that is my goal, and I look forward to seeing this web site become a community of like minded sisters, who gather together to chat across the fence, as in days gone by, exchanging recipes, tips and encouragement on a daily basis.

My home, My haven, a bit about me!

Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever,

for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

Psalm 119:111
